Sunita Yogananda’s passion for Bharatanatyam began during childhood in India. Diligently trained in Bharatanatyam from renowned dance gurus Smt Janaki Venkataraman and Karnataka Kalashri Prof. Uma Rao, the founder of Sri Lalithakala Academy, Center of Performing Arts, Mysore.

Besides giving innumerable solo performance all over India, she is an auditioned Bangalore doordarshan artist, performed leading role in dance drama; she has given dance demonstrations at various institutions, with the aim of educating the students to assimilate the values of the great divine art Bharatanatyam. She has a master’s degree in Bharatanatyam.

After teaching under the guidance of gurus, Sunita started Kalakshiti; a school based in Indianapolis, Indiana, dedicated to spot and nurture a new crop of talents who will keep aflame the lamp of this art. Her students have performed at various cultural events and local organizations, winning critical acclaim.
